The
Parcel
layer is an add on feature for Surety
®
and Surety
®
Pro accounts that displays Parcel boundaries and potentially a multitude of different data such as Parcel ID, Owner Name, and more. A separate purchase is required in order for it to become available within a mapping account.

Parcel layers
Once purchased, the Parcel layer is able to be turned on in the layers panel. It will list which states you have available in parenthesis in the layer name.
Parcel boundaries will appear as orange borders on the map.
The
Parcel Labels
layer goes hand-in-hand with the Parcel layer. You can toggle this layer in order to show or hide labels for the parcel. The style and label content can also be controlled by this layer.
The Parcel Labels layer has a unique layer properties option set. Click on the Parcel Labels link to access these options.
The general tab offers some control over when the labels appear on the map. The default setting is they will appear between a 0 - 2 mile map scale.
The labels tab allows modification to the look of the labels on the map itself. See
Form Layer Properties
for more on these features.
Parcel ID Search (Surety
®
& Surety
®
Pro)
Both the Search bar and the Search tab allow the input of the parcel id as a search term.
When using the Search tab within the Search interface, simply select the State and enter the Parcel ID without using spaces. Punctuation such as periods and dashes are optional and will not effect the search results either way.
If there are multiple parcels with the same number within the state, a pop up will appear allowing the selection of the correct county.
Use the Keep Selections option to maintain the selected parcel if you need to search for more.
Note that this will also retain any drawings on the map.
When using the Search bar located above the map interface, use the same rules by removing any spaces from the parcel id format.
A state abbreviation is required to be placed after the parcel ID to locate the correct parcel.
Once again if there are identical parcel IDs within the state, the list of counties will appear that contain the parcels to choose from.
If you are wanting to retain your parcel selections using the top search bar, enable the Keep Selections option within the Search panel's Search tab.
Parcel Advanced Search Tool (Surety
®
Pro only)
Surety
®
Pro accounts can use the Parcel search to find parcel information by Parcel ID or First and Last Name of the parcel owner.
Fill in the State and County and click on the Parcel Latest update to view when the last time the county records were updated.
Enter the State and County as well as a Parcel ID or First Name(optional) and Last Name(required when searching by name) and click Locate.
The name search can be tweaked depending on what is typed in. If searching for all results with a particular last name, simply type in a last name and leave the first name blank. If you are wanting to narrow to a certain first initial, type the first letter of the first name into the First Name box. If you want to widen your search results, type an asterisk at the end of a series of letters in the last name in order to search for all results containing that string of letters. e.g. "John*" will return results for Johnson, Johnston, etc. Click the Question Mark (?) at the top of the search page to get a breakdown of these search options.
The Results of the search will be listed below. There are a variety of actions that can be done with the results.
Click on any of the records to bring up the info for that particular record.
Either use the magnifying glass button to zoom to a single record boundary or check one or more records and click
Zoom to results
to locate and highlight the parcels on the map.
Quickly save the selected records to the Parcel Info layer(see below) by using the Save Selected link.
Parcel Info & Parcel Report
To view the information assigned to the Parcel boundary, we can use either the
Parcel Info
form or the
Parcel Report
.
Select 1 parcel boundary with the select tool then choose either
Parcel Info
or
Parcel Report
in the right panel.
Note: Surety Pro accounts must have a client selected for these options to appear.
Parcel Info
Parcel Info is used as a quick info look-up. It will display all of the available data in a simple pop-up.
Amount of available data depends on the completeness of the county's digital records in which the boundary resides.
Surety Pro accounts can Save the Parcel boundary for easy recall by clicking on the Save button on the bottom of the Parcel info form.
This will add this information to the Parcel Info Layer which can be turned on and off of the map using the checkbox in the layers panel.
It also enables the records to be styled using the
Form Layer Properties
or used from within the
Form Manager
to create
Paradigms
or
Overview Maps
using the
Dossier Studio
.
Parcel Report
The Parcel Report is a printable Form that contains a large map and any available parcel information for the selected boundary.
Once you have selected a parcel boundary, click the Parcel Report in the list of Forms and Reports.
The report will load for you to modify, save, and Print.
Surety Pro accounts are able to save this as a record similar to other forms within Surety Pro.
The saved layer will be displayed as Parcel Report
Parcel Data Map
Another parcel report option within Surety and Surety Pro is the
Parcel Data Map
. This report allows multiple Parcel boundaries to be selected and will display the map in addition to a customizable grid of information associated with the selected parcels.
For optimal use, select two or more parcel boundaries using the select tool.
Click on
Parcel Data Map
in the right hand panel.
The column attributes show can be modified within this map by clicking on the Parcel Data Table button to the right of the map.
Simply check the desired attributes to be shown and click Save to update the table. These settings will revert to the original selections if you click the
Default
button.
Exporting Parcel Boundaries
When exporting a parcel boundary as a SHP, the files exported will be be different than when exporting a non-parcel boundary.
The files that are produced contain all the attributes of the parcel and the filenames have "parcel_" added to it.
Select a parcel boundary and click Export
Select SHP and then Export
The attributes included within the shapefile are the same as what you would find when generating the Parcel Info report.
