FEMA Flood Ways and FEMA Flood Zones are available in Surety® and Surety® Pro Customized Online Mapping.

This data comes as an overlay that can be enabled or disabled from the Layers panel. See Also: FEMA Flood Ways and FEMA Flood Zones

The flood zones and the flood ways are based on the 100 year flood plan (See also: http://www.fema.gov/floodplain-management/flood-zones.)

This does not mean that the flood sources flood every 100 years, but rather there is a 1 percent chance of flooding every year.

The following image is depicting Flood Zones and flood ways within Surety® and Surety® Pro. The flood ways are depicted as red hatching. A flood zone is depicted as blue or orange overlay in the map.

FEMA Overlay color descriptions

The overlay color depicts the severity of likelihood of a flood according to the hundred year flood plan.

By default the colors are setup to match the scheme on the FEMA website.

  • Light blue overlay is more probable than the areas covered in the orange overlay.

  • Flood ways are depicted as red hatching.

To change one of the colors, click the Advanced link to change the different attributes of the colors and then Save when done.

You can also change the label and label style by clicking on the Labels tab back on the Layer Properties page.

It is also possible to access more information on each area: Fema Info

Note: FEMA Flood Ways and FEMA Flood Zones may not be available in all areas.

The reason for this is because if the FEMA Floodzones have not been updated to a digital medium by FEMA then it will not be available in Surety® or Surety® Pro Customized Online Mapping.
