Soil Features
are icons displayed on the map that represent certain features within the soil that are not necessarily present within the entire soil.
These icons can be enabled on the interactive map and can also be displayed on the Soil Map along with a separate grid showing the description of each symbol.
Enable the Soil Features on the interactive map
Click
Layers
> Expand the
Other
category > Check the
Soil Features
layer.
When zoomed close enough and in an area that supports and contains the data, the icons will appear on the map.
If a feature is not assigned a symbol it will appear as a point with a label naming the feature.
A generated FSA Map will then display these symbols as well.
Note: if a drawn or selected boundary is used for the map, only symbols within that area will be shown on the generated map.
How to enable Soil Features on a soil map
There are 2 ways to enable the Soil Features on the Soil Map
1. Enable the setting within the Soil Option page either by using the Soils Options button on the Soil Map...
or
from the Tools > Options > Soil Options Page drop down on the mapping interface.
Click the
Soil Features
tab and scroll down to check the
Soil Features
option then
Save
.
2. On the mapping interface, enable the Soil Features layer from the Layers panel as described at the top of this page.
With the layer enabled, generate a report containing a soils grid such as the Soil Map.
With either of these methods, the Soil Features grid will be added under the main soils grid and may extend to an additional page if necessary.
