Browser Download Setting

When downloading files from websites such as PDFs, SHP, or job files from Surety
®
, the web browser you are using determines what happens with these files. To help optimize a mapping workflow, this page will show how to change the browser settings to be able to pick where the downloaded files are saved.
Microsoft Edge
When using the Microsoft Edge browser, first click on the three dot "Settings and more" button in the upper right corner and then click on Settings.
Then find and click on the "Downloads" option in the left panel.
To prompt a Save As dialog every time you save a file from a website, turn on the "Ask me what to do with each download" setting.
To change the location of where downloaded files are saved on your computer or device, click the Change button and select the folder you would like files downloaded to automatically.
Note that this applies to all files downloaded from all websites.
Once the desired settings are changed, close out of the Settings tab to continue with your previous actions.
Google Chrome
When using the Google Chrome browser, first click on the three dot "Customize and control Google Chrome" button in the upper right corner and then click on Settings.
Then find and click on the "Downloads" option in the left panel.
To prompt a Save As dialog every time you save a file from a website, turn on the "Ask where to save each file before downloading" setting.
To change the location of where downloaded files are saved on your computer or device, click the Change button and select the folder you would like files downloaded to automatically.
Note that this applies to all files downloaded from all websites.
Once the desired settings are changed, close out of the Settings tab to continue with your previous actions.
